ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Conducts electrical safety inspections on all electrical equipment to ensure customer safety
  2. Assists in maintaining utility systems to provide a comfortable environment for customers.
  3. Conducts preventative maintenance to prolong the operational life of equipment.
  4. Performs unscheduled maintenance and repairs as the need arises. Completes scheduled work orders, as assigned by Director.
  5. Assists in conducting emergency preparedness drills to verify staff readiness.
  6. Patches and paints walls to maintain a safe, professional, appearance around the facility.

In addition to the functions described above, this role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Dallas County Hospital needs or requirements.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
•    Education/Experience:
    High School graduate or equivalent required.  Have previous commercial maintenance experience or mechanical aptitude.
    
•    Technical Skills:
Demonstrates knowledge of tools and the skills required using them; utilizes sound troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques; and has the ability to read and follow directions.

•    Other qualifications/certificate/license:
Posses’ valid Iowa drivers license and is insurable. Ability to work independently.

•    PC Competencies:
The incumbent must demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of the Windows environment.

Has the freedom to determine how to best accomplish functions within established procedures and protocol, and confers with Director of facilities on any unusual situation or problems before proceeding with adjustments or repairs.
