Clinical Informatics - FT; Days (on-site / minimal remote); on-call rotation
February 17, 2026ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Clinical Systems Support & Workflow Optimization
o Provide frontline support for clinicians using the EMR and other clinical applications, ensuring efficient workflows and high system usability.
o Partner with physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff to understand clinical processes and optimize system functionality to support quality patient care.
o Conducts needs assessment and actively participates in the development, training, competencies, and implementation/upgrades of EHR or other clinical systems.
o Serves as the in-house expert on the EHR and clinical information systems.
o Fields inquiries, directs resources, and leads cross-functional teams to utilize clinical systems to their fullest capacity.
o Actively participates in educating super users on correct procedures and use of the EHR system.
• System Implementation, Configuration & Lifecycle Management
o Lead or participate in the planning, testing, implementation, validation, and optimization of clinical information systems and modules.
o Configure and maintain clinical documentation tools, order sets, alerts, and other clinical content in alignment with best practices and governance processes.
• Data, Reporting & Performance Improvement
o Design and generate reports, dashboards, and data extracts to support clinical decision making, regulatory compliance, and performance improvement initiatives – or other reports as needed.
o Support data collection for scorecards, audits, quality metrics, and operational analytics – and other reports as needed.
o Support initiatives to help achieve Promoting Interoperability and Meaningful Use requirements.
• Additional Responsibilities
o Perform additional duties as assigned to support organizational needs and strategic initiatives.
o Participate in IT on call.
In addition to the functions described above, this role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon DCH’s needs or requirements.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Education/Experience:
Required degree/ licensure in clinical field. Health information technology coursework preferred. Minimum of three years hospital clinical experience required. Electronic Medical Records (EMR) experience preferred. Willing to obtain health information technology degree or certification within 4 years from date of hire.
• Technical Skills:
Experience in supporting software systems and relating complex information to all audiences. Experience and knowledge in the use of electronic patient documentation/order entry systems preferred. Experience in designing and performing software education programs. Very strong communication skills required. Must possess working knowledge of PC based hardware and software. Project management skills.
• Other qualifications/certificate/license:
BCLS, license or certification in clinical field.
• Clinical Information Competencies:
Process analysis and improvement capabilities for both technical and non-technical processes. A working knowledge of medical terminology and regulatory documentation requirements. Ability to communicate effectively with clinical staff, technology staff, leadership staff, and physicians. Comfortable with learning all aspects of a software system and becoming the champion for that system to include being the main point of contact for all questions on that system. Experienced supporting complex clinical software systems. Some programming experience preferred but not required. Experienced in performing complex software troubleshooting preferred but must possess the capability to learn complex troubleshooting techniques.
• PC Competencies:
The incumbent must demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of the Windows environment as well as ability to access and use information in meaningful ways. The incumbent must have the ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in meaningful ways using email, word processing and spreadsheets. Must have experience troubleshooting basic computer problems.
