Chief Clinical Officer - Full-time (Days; rotating on-call)

Participates in the development of the organization’s mission, strategic plans, budgets, and resource allocation and is held accountable for implementation.

Establishes the vision for clinical service departments. Responsible for the planning, promotion, education and evaluation of clinical activities. Represents clinical service areas in new business ventures, physician recruitment, facility changes and other health care related projects.

Directs the Clinic Director with Rural Health Clinic (RHC) guidelines, ensuring that all requirements are in compliance and maintained at all times.

Directs the development, coordinates the review, approval and distribution of clinical and RHC policies and procedures.

Management and fiscal accountability for reporting departments and clinics. Responsible for leadership development and ensures competencies of staff.

Demonstrates an up-to-date knowledge and ensures compliance with CAH, RHC, local, state and federal regulations. Monitors the established standards of nursing/clinical practices and patient care.

In collaboration with Directors is held accountable for planning, promoting, conducting and evaluating clinical quality improvement and patient safety programs. This includes activities that assure the quality and appropriateness of care provided by all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team.

Establishes open lines of communication with medical staff to ensure quality patient care, opportunities for process improvement and on-going continuum of care. Participates in peer review process. Prepares and coordinates medical staff meetings.

Ensures patient satisfaction ratings are at a level established as an organizational wide goal. Performs routine evaluation of various reporting programs. Responsible for problem resolution related to clinical services and communication to appropriate leadership.

In collaboration with the Specialty Clinic Coordinators hold accountability for the management and evaluation of specialty clinics.

Serves as clinical representative/leader and is responsible for active participation in community organizational programs/committees/services.

Serves as a leader and mentor in the development of the clinical section team. Ensures employee satisfaction levels meet established organizational goals in areas of responsibility. Demonstrates a visible communication style in areas of responsibility.

Serves as the Chief Nursing Officer/Nurse Executive. Serves as resource and/ or consultant with nursing leadership.

Serves as the senior lead for Quality/Service Pillar. Provides oversight and accountability as the senior lead for the quality program and Quality/Service committee. Helps maintain Quality Scorecard reporting and benchmarking.

Responsible for maintaining CAH Annual Report documentation, putting together document and ensuring document is prepared in a timely manner to provide to Medical Staff and Board of Trustees.

Ensures the availability of competent personnel and promotes the recruitment selection, retention, development, continuing education and advancement goals of professional clinical staff for the hospital and clinics.

Participates in administrative on-call rotation. Is a member of Senior Team, Quality, Policy, Peer Review, Compliance, leads Medical Staff, and routinely serves as administrative representative at hospital-wide department staff meetings.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Above director level experience
- Current Iowa RN license.
- Previous experience in an executive leadership role overseeing multiple clinical areas including Emergency Department, Inpatient units, and outpatient clinics.
- Advance degree in nursing required.
