Billing Specialist - Full-time (8am-4:30pm); hybrid remote position
October 8, 2026ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Submits insurance claims to insurance companies. Filing claim electronically by making corrections as needed.
2. Analyze aging of patient’s account receivable to insure proper billing procedures and take appropriate follow up
action when needed.
3. Maintains excellent communication skills when dealing with public and insurance companies.
4. Assist with receptionist duties such as answering the phone, registering patients and various other office duties,
maintaining a high level of confidentially and professionalism concerning patient’s rights.
5. Financial counseling after services are rendered as needed.
• Collect co-pays and deductibles
• Explain all options to self pay patients regarding different payment methods.
In addition to the functions described above, this role may include other responsibilities and duties as assigned on occasion, based upon Dallas County Hospital needs or requirements.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Education/Experience:
Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement. Previous insurance claims processing preferred. High school education or equivalent required.
Technical Skills:
Basic computer skills, including numeric typing and knowledge of Business Office.
Other qualifications/certificate/license:
Excellent communication skills.

The incumbent must demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of the Windows environment
as well as an ability to access and use information in meaningful ways. The incumbent must have the ability to access, manipulate, organize and relay information in meaningful ways using email, word processing, and spreadsheet.
