Community Wellness and Preventative Care Dallas County Hospital believes in preventative care, which is why we currently offer a variety of support groups and educational programs.
Community Education Programs
- Diabetic Support Group: This group meets the first Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. in the Community Room. Cherie Booth, RN works to bring in a variety of guest speakers from all over Central Iowa to speak about current issues and best care practices. Family and Friends are encouraged to attend.
- A new sleep disorder educational program will begin at Dallas County Hospital in Perry to provide support and education to community members. Group members will exchange thoughts and ideas to cope with sleep disorders and discuss treatments available. Guest speakers are invited. The group meets the fourth Thursday every quarter beginning at 6:00 p.m. Better Breathers Club: This group meets the second Monday of every month beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the Spring Valley Retirement Community Dining Room. Pam Whitmore, MS/ RRT is focusing on a different body system during this year's sessions. The group will not meet from December - March, but will start back up again in April.
- A new Latino Health and Wellness Group will be meeting the third Sunday of every month at 1:30 p.m in the Perry Public Library Community Room. Nine different themes will bring in speakers from all over Central Iowa. For more information, contact Moses Rangel.
Wellness
- Free Blood Pressure Checks are offered every Thursday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. in the South Atrium Lobby.
- Free Blood Sugar Tests are done from 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. the Third Thursday of every month in the South Atrium Lobby. Fasting is encouraged for this test.
- If you are looking for an inexpensive and convenient way to "Know Your Numbers" the Dallas County Lab would like to invite you to take part in their Walk-In Wellness from 7:00 - 10:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. Download the complete panel information and price list here.
